Our approach

Education that gives you back control over your future

The civilian market rarely understands military experience, and health conditions can close off a previous profession. The cause is external, and the foundation opens access to digital professions where your experience and your age work in your favor.
‍
We do not promise fast results. You bring consistency and practice; we bring the methodology, practitioner instructors and a community that has walked a similar path.
A structured format with clear deadlines and a predictable number of hours per week
Practitioner instructors and a mentor who stays with you throughout the program
Fully online, with the option to pause when circumstances require it
Career support after you finish: portfolio, resume and interview preparation
What you get

Tools that work in practice

Real practice
You work on tasks close to real ones and finish with a portfolio project—something you can show an employer.
Support along the way
The group coordinator handles the organizational side and the mentor the academic one. You are never left alone with the material.
A community of your own
You study alongside people who have walked a similar path. Their stories are the best proof that this works.

Participant stories

People who have already walked this path

Before the course I was only partly connected to IT—I worked in IT marketing. What stayed with me most was the Jira workshop and the risk management topic. I now work with that constantly, especially on grant projects, where you simply cannot survive without structure. I resigned from my previous job and was not looking for work—they found me within a week.
Oleksandr Miroshnychenko
Project Management · now a PM at an economics school for veterans
I first heard about Beetroot Academy in the most unexpected of circumstances—in captivity. I asked almost everyone who had any connection to IT. A few days after the exchange I was filling in the application form. What interested me most was not a particular subject but the very chance to begin. Studying is not easy; I am starting from zero—but I feel progress every day.

Our meetups

We come to where veterans are

This year we met veterans in person across Ukraine—at rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and community spaces. At these meetings we speak honestly: real stories and concrete steps instead of a formal presentation.
Stiykist project · across Ukraine
In-person meetings with veterans
At these meetings we talk about free education, new professional roles, doubts and fears, and realistic steps after service. The speakers include veterans who returned from captivity and began their path in IT.
Feofaniya Hospital
A meeting at the psychological support center
As part of the Stiykist project, together with Feofaniya Hospital, we presented the available fields of study and explained how to move into a civilian profession. Education here is a step toward recovery alongside medical care.
Main Hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs · with AZOV.Suprovid
A talk on IT and career opportunities
Together with AZOV.Suprovid we held a session on IT for veterans: which fields exist, where to start without a technical background, and which opportunities are open specifically to them. One of our Python course graduates, an Azov veteran, shared his story.
Veteran Hub
A talk on the first steps toward a new profession
We told veterans and their families where to start a path in IT and how to apply their experience in a new place. The speakers included a war veteran and information security specialist, the Chief Veterans Officer of a large multi-market retail chain, and a leading HR consultant.
Partners and donors

Education is possible thanks to their support

The foundation's programs are funded by international donors and delivered in partnership with leading organizations. This is how education becomes available to people for whom it is financially out of reach on commercial terms.

The foundation's role

Beetroot Academy Foundation sets the social framework for the programs. It raises donor funding and opens access to education for veterans and others who need support in a professional transition.

The academy's role

Beetroot Academy provides the educational expertise: methodology, practitioner instructors and program quality. The foundation and the academy are separate organizations with a shared goal.
The Stiykist project is implemented by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation with the support of Sweden.
