Beetroot Academy is a Swedish-Ukrainian online academy that started its journey in 2014 as a pilot project to support Ukrainian migrants in entering IT and restoring professional stability.

Our Story
Beetroot Ecosystem
Over time, this project has grown into more — today Beetroot Academy is an educational partner in the Beetroot ecosystem, which means that we are united by values and global goals. Together, we can do more for Ukraine.
2014
Founding of Beetroot Academy
Beetroot Academy was founded in Sweden and Ukraine in response to the challenges following Russia's aggression. Its mission is to provide people with new digital skills and open pathways to dignified employment.
2018
Scale UA — the first major social project
Together with Sida (Sweden), we trained over 3,000 people in Ukrainian regions and expanded our capacity to 2,000 students per year. 10 new training programs were launched.
2021
Scaling up social programs
Launch of WINGS (Pact/Canada), Springboard to Equality (UNFPA), SEED (ACTED) for IDPs from Donbas. Over 1,200 women completed training.
2022
Response to the full-scale invasion
Refugee support programs in Sweden (CARE EUkraine) and Moldova (Reconomy/Helvetas). New partnerships with UNHCR, IOM, EU Social Fund.
2023
Programs for veterans
150 veterans and their family members trained with Beetroot Aid Fund and New Horizon Hub. First cases of veterans' employment in IT.
2025
Upgrade UA — the fund's flagship program
Upskilling 2,000 people across Ukraine with the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. IT specialists, NGO and public sector managers. Topics: cybersecurity, AI, digital literacy, PM.
